Options for learning about wine. How to taste it "properly" and appreciate the subtle differences within classic varietals!

There are a number of different ways to identify Wines that you like, enjoy drinking and want to buy again. This might be by buying tasting cases from any one of the internet based companies, going to an off-licence (rather than a Supermarket) to taste wines and see whether the shop can match your exquisite, and highly personal, taste requirements, attending a wine-tasting course and actually getting to appreciate all of the subtle nuances that go to make up a good wine!  Alternatively you can learn "how" to taste wine by taking a course or organise your own tastings, at home, using the links to the Independents named below:

.. or you could go to a VERY good restaurant or Hotel and ask the Sommelier to recommend a Wine (or Wines) to go with each course of your meal... Several thousands of pounds/euros later you will, probably, be in the same position as created by any of the above options. Failing that come to the London Wine Fair (Olympia), try as many wines as you can, understand where they come from, why they taste as they do...and try not to fall over on the way out.
